If you’re an avid reader, you’ll be thrilled to know that you can get thousands of free e-books throughout 2025. Amazon is offering free Kindle e-books to readers all year long, with new opportunities arising every month. In March, Prime members have the chance to get two free Kindle e-books from Amazon’s First Reads program.
What is Amazon’s First Reads?
Amazon First Reads is a program designed for Prime members that provides early access to new e-books across various genres. The selection is curated by First Reads editors, making it one of the many benefits of being a Prime member. Each month, Prime members can download one free e-book from a rotating list, and sometimes that number is increased to two. Non-members can also purchase these e-books at a discounted price. The e-books can be read on any compatible Kindle device or through the free Kindle app.
How to get your free Amazon Kindle e-books in March
To access the full list of e-books available this month, visit the First Reads landing page on Amazon. Once you find a book that interests you, click the “Shop Now” button on the First Reads landing page. Make sure you’re not redirected to the Kindle or Amazon mobile application, as the free book option won’t be available there. Instead, use your internet browser on your phone or computer.
When on the book’s Amazon page, avoid clicking the “Pre-order for…” button, as that will require payment. Instead, click the “Read for Free” or “Buy Now with 1-Click” button under the “First Reads” banner. Rest assured, you won’t be charged for selecting the free e-book. The e-book will be sent directly to your Kindle, which is linked to your Amazon account.

You’ll know you’ve successfully selected the free e-book when you see a “Thanks, [your name]!” order summary, indicating that the e-book is being auto-delivered to the Kindle Cloud Reader.
Free Amazon Kindle e-books available in March 2025
This month, you have the option to choose one e-book from a selection of eight new Kindle e-books. Additionally, a free short story titled The Sublet is also available. Amazon provides the genre for each book above the title, making it easier for you to narrow down your options. By hovering over the “See Editor Notes” under the “Shop Now” button, you can read a short description from the First Reads editor who selected the book.
