SymbyAI, a SaaS platform leveraging AI to streamline scientific research, has recently secured $2.1 million in seed funding. Drive Capital and CharacterVC are among the participants in this funding round.
Founded by Ashia Livaudais and Michael House in the previous year, SymbyAI offers researchers organized workspaces where they can access papers, code, data, and experiences all in one place. The platform also aids in tracking progress and incorporates an AI feature that assists with peer review and replication.
Livaudais emphasized that SymbyAI is built on a proprietary AI solution, ensuring that users need not worry about accidentally sharing confidential information with other companies. The intellectual property of researchers remains their own and is not utilized to train SymbyAI’s underlying models.
Livaudais shared that her personal experience with the outdated system of reviewing and creating science motivated her to establish the company. Recognizing that her fellow researchers were also seeking solutions to similar problems, she realized the potential for SymbyAI. Livaudais stated, “By successfully shortening critical research processes from months to hours, demand for a productized version started to emerge from almost every discovery conversation I had.”
SymbyAI collaborates with academic publishers, research organizations, and universities. Livaudais initially connected with investors through the gBeta program, a part of gener8tor. Antler, an early supporter, invested in SymbyAI’s pre-seed round. The recently secured seed funding will be utilized to further develop the company and fulfill initial partnerships.
